Shipwreck yet again by Lefkada- Amanda Maceda

Yesterday, a 23-26ft boat full of people who are guessed to be refugees from Syria sank off the coast of Lefkada near Greece. The reason the boat sank is unclear at this moment. Authorities only found out because some made it onto land and contacted them. "There have been cases in the past where smugglers tricked the immigrants and left them on Lefkada, claiming they had arrived in Italy,” Now, at least 12 of the migrants have drowned with a third of them being children. “Greek government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou said the "new tragedy off Lefkada" confirmed the "need to immediately implement initiatives taken by the European Union, with Greece's initiative, too, to deal with the problem of illegal migration".
I agree that Europe needs to tighten their immagration. At the same time, I want people in Syria who want to escape be always allowed to. Really, I just want people to always be safe; unfortunatley, human nature doesn't work that way. Also, I think its cruel what some  smugglers are doing to the immagrants. source:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24954702

  1. Wow, I really think countries need to get their stuff together about immigration. Like, countries need to find a median for which they can allow immigration safely and maybe with a few limits, but not so harsh that it forces people to consider risking their life to get somewhere else.

  2. I agree, this needs to be the focus of these countries attention until it is resolved.
