President of Italy Resigns by Corran Nolan

Mario Monti, the President of Italy, has decided that he will make sure that the Financial Stability Law will pass, and then he will resign from office. "I won't go to Europe to for those who make Anti-European statements. I don't want to have anything to do with them," he says as he tries to make it clear that he does not want to be associated with those that think the trouble that Italy is in is because of the Euro. Of course this leaves the country in the hands of the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, who blames Monti for the Italy's financial issues. Monti had tried to promote non-partisan-ism (at least for a while) until they could be sure the country was not in a downward spiral, but the growing mistrust of political parties made this impossible. Eventually, the President has decided that he has had enough and is stepping down, and hopefully not erasing any chance the country had for survival.

In this article the author's point of view is that President Monti should not be stepping down, and that it is really because of Prime Minister Berlusconi's that Italy is in the state it is at the moment. This article was written for people who support President Monti to explain that it is not his fault, that really the Prime Minister is the reason that Italy is in such bad shape, and that people should not be accusing either the President or the Euro Zone for their problems.
