Same-Sex Marriage In England By Madeline Ibarra

There has been a proposal in England and in Whales saying that at the beginning of next year, same-sex marriages would be legalized. This law, once passed, would allow any church to participate in the same gender marriages. For the churches who oppose this, the law by no means will force participation. As for the Church of England and the Church of Whales, they are  prohibiting these marriages until the governing bodies of the church allow it. For this to happen, they would have to alter cannon law, which is as of now opposed to same sex marriage. There are many people in these two  countries that highly support this cause because "Marriage is one of the most important institutions we have in this country. It binds us together, brings long-term commitment and stability, and makes society stronger." Many other countries of Europe are looking into making their own laws for same-sex marriage for the future.

I think that this is a great idea. It makes me happy to know that more of the world is becoming open about same gender relationships and marriage. It shows how much we have grown as a global community. I'm happy for the people who are allowed to be openly in love and get married now.
