Finding Hope in Tragedy by Victoria Valdez

Four years ago, Aimee Copeland, went on a zip line with friends.  When she was using the zip line, it broke and she fell cutting her leg open.  She went to the hospital for stitches.  Days later she had developed a dangerous infection called, necrotizing fascitis, which is a bacterial infection that destroys tissue and can even kill.  Ultimately, to save her life she lost all her limbs.  Today, she is working as a social worker to make a difference in the lives of people that have had traumatic accidents.  She says that she would do it all over again because the accident gave her a purpose.

It is inspiring that this young woman has found purpose in the face of tragedy.  I hope that I too can face life like this.  It's not what happens to you, it is how you respond to life when it happens.

  1. Its so nice that instead of being depressed about what has happened to her, she is trying to better the lives of other people. If everyone had this attitude the world would be a much better place.
