“They’re killing a lot of innocent people, so what am I to do here when my people are getting killed over there? You get what I’m saying?” (Mateen the shooter) says. He talks about the US airstrikes that kill towns of people. “You’re annoying me with a lot of these phone calls,” an impatient Mateen said during one of the calls. Asked by the negotiator whether Mateen had done anything about the crisis in the Middle East, Mateen sneered, “You already know what I did.”
