Grace Biltz - Week 7 Post

A painting was found in a house by the Scottish National Trust. They thought it was the work of Innocenzo Francucci da Imola,  a minor Renaissance artist, making the value of the painting only $26. Now, it is believed that it is a work of art in the series of Madonna by Renaissance by the artist Raphael. With this new information, this increased the paintings worth by $20 million, making the painting at the cost of $26 million.
The painting was first spotted by Dr. Bendor Grosvenor. Although the paining was not in the best condition, it caught Grosvenor's eye. He thought it looked like a Raphael. The painting was late exhibited in 1841, alongside other pieces done by Raphael.
The painting was dated to be between 1505 and 1510. After some research, Grosvenor strongly believes that it is a work of art done by Raphael. However, more time is needed to clarify if all of these clues and information is true.

I am amazed about how much the price of the painting increased just based on who the people believed was the true artist. I believe the painting was done by Raphael. It is also amazing how the painting dates all the way back to the 1500's.

  1. I can't believe you could gain such luck, it wasn't just some lousy painting but 20 million dollars! People should pay more attention thank goodness he saw the true worth but the old owner must be mad for selling it at 26$ and finding out it was 20 million dollars.

  3. I can't believe the painting might be Raphael's! That amazes me along with the fact that this painting came so close to only being sold at $26 instead of 20 million.
