Bolivian Radio Journalist Set on Fire-Maddie Ash

A Bolivian radio journalist was set on fire by unknown assailants in Yacuiba. According to the staff at Radio Popular, four masked men broke into the studio and poured petrol over presenter Fernando Vidal and set him alight. When the attack happened, Mr. Vidal was doing a story on smuggling goods across the border. He is being treated for burns on his face, arms, and chest. Also injured in the attack was studio technician Karen Anza. Some eyewitnesses say that the attackers were even throwing Molotov cocktails. Vidal had been a harsh critic of the provincial government and often voiced his opinions on air, and the attack is believed to be politically motivated. Three suspects have been arrested.

  1. Wow. I am appalled. Just to hear of anyone getting treated that way makes me sick. Thank God he survived. Unfortunately, that trauma is probably going to with him the rest of his life.
