Earthquake in Chile by: Rachel Devine

On October 11, a minor earthquake struck central Chile. No major damage was done, however many citizens were very frightened and cell phone lines went down. The earthquake had a magnitude of 5.5, which is not strong enough to trigger a tsunami. Chile’s last earthquake in 2010, killed hundreds of people. The Chileans were lucky no real harm was done, but this earthquake did stir frenzy.

I find natural disasters very interesting. I’m thankful that this earthquake was not too bad, because it would have been devastating if hundreds of Chileans would have died. I want to learn more about natural disasters and how to measure them. I pray that another earthquake or tsunami does not hit Chile or another country anytime soon.
