Hurricane Sandy by: Milan Hamilton

Hurricane Sandy hit near Atlantic City, destroying parts of the Jersey Shore and the subways and tunnels of New York on Monday night. By Tuesday, 33 were said to be dead. 6.9 million are without power in 15 states an the District of Columbia. There are many seniors who are in need of electricity possibly because of the medical machines they use or their medicine may be kept in a refrigerator. Limited bus and airplane services resumed on Tuesday so people can continue to evacuate. According the the government the storms wind damage could cost $7 billion, but is impact as a whole could be $25 billion.

This is important because it is a hurricane that is impacting our country and possibly our family members. Although it is not occurring near us, there is still many things that we can to help them. We should pray for all of the people in the nearby areas of the storm. We should pray for their safety and that not a lot of damage was done to their community.
