Helping Kids in the Slums of Paradise City by Corsica Steding

In the Paraisopolis cultural center (located in Paradise City) there is a classical music project that is offered to young people for free.  When people join, they get a musical instrument for free.  Joao Carlos Martins who was a famous classical pianist whose career was cut short by injuries started this project.  He started the project in search of talent, but also ended up helping many people.

Shasta Darlington wrote this article for CNN on October 25th.  Before reading this article I had heard of organizations that help kids in poor areas, but none of these organizations are like this one.  This article is written for anyone interested.  I think that it's amazing that this one man started an organization that helps so many kids in such a huge way.  The main point of this article is to describe what a difference Joao Carlos Martins has made in numerous kids' lives.  This article is important, because it gives an example of one person changing the futures of many people.
