Punished for Wearing Pink? By Ausia Jones

A high school football coach in Kentucky punished a player for violating the dress code when he wore pink on the field. The coach thought the boy was wearing pink to be cool, but actually he wore it to support his friend's mother who passed away from breast cancer. The coach made him run military style sprints and told him that he would be lucky if he could play. The player said he wouldn't wear pink anymore.  Site:http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/sports/2012/10/19/mxp-football-player-pink-uniform.hln

  1. That seems like it would of been an awkward situation for the coach, but he should of asked the player why he was wearing it instead of automatically punishing him.

  2. This coach was overreacting way too much. I mean the kid just wanted to support his friend's mom. It's not like he did any harm to anyone.

  3. That's so unfair. He shouldn't just punish the player because of his personal assumptions. Ugh..

  4. That wasn't the right thing to do. He should've found out why he's wearing pink instead of punishing him so harshly automatically.

  5. Did the kid even get to tell the coach his reason for wearing pink? That's wrong on the coach' s part.

  6. Being in a position of authority on the football team, the coach should try to be more understanding. Even if it was against dress code the coach could of just told the player to take off the pink.

  7. He got upset over a color? Why can't he make an exception during breast cancer awareness month?...People can be so quick to judge.

  8. I think that its interesting that the coach didnt realize that it was Breast Cancer Awareness month. Did the student even get to explain why he was wearing pink?
