Budget Cuts at their Worst

In Newark, New Jersey, budget cuts have affected the police force, by making them lay off more and more officers. Since then, violent crime has risen 18% nationwide. Suffering from an economic bind, not too long ago, Newark had hit their 71st homicide victim, and 160 officers had been laid off. However, police officers have been laid off nationwide since 2008. With the economy worsening, city budgets are decreasing, making more officers being laid off, and unsafe cities.

  1. This is scary! What if the crimes' percentages grow more and more over the next couple of years?! Hopefully our economy won worsen.
