Falklands War General Arrested for Crimes Against Humanity - Hannah Kalan

Falklands War General Mario Menendez was arrested in his role in crimes 'against humanity' perpetrated by the 7 year dictatorship that began in 1976. He was military governor of the Falkland Islands during this time and will be put on trial next month at the age of 82. 15 Other people were also arrested for suspected participation in operations such as 'Operation Independence'. An estimated thirty thousand people disappeared and were supposedly kidnapped and murdered by the regime. Many of the soldiers who fought during this time told stories of how they'd been beaten and starved, humiliated by their superiors, and maybe now they will have some form of justice.
