Storm Sandy by: Addison Norman

Storm Sandy

Hurricane Sandy is close to hitting the east coast of the U.S., and has already hit many islands in the Gulf of Mexico. Many people are trying to get prepared for the predicted power outages and tremendous amounts of rainfall. At stores most crucial products are out of stock like batteries, produce, and water bottles. Sandy may collide with a cold front from the West that would cause the storm to last for days. Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland are projected to receive twelve inches of rain. Subways vents in New York City are being boarded up to stop the subway from flooding, but the subway system will be shutdown for the storm. Along with the subway, many home and storeowners are boarding up windows and doors in reaction to the hurricane. The Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti, and Cuba are places that have already experienced major damage and flooding from Hurricane Sandy.
This is scary to think of. It is very important to know safety precautions that need to be taken during a natural disaster like this. Also, it’s key to be prepared with supplies; especially if you live in an area prone to flooding.
