Two-time rape victim fights for justice - Jack VanGorden

Even though her home and office were destroyed by a devastating earthquake in January of 2010, Malya Villard-Appolon is still head-strong in supporting rape victims in the country of Haiti. She gets this determination from being a rape victim herself. She founded KOFAVIV in 2004, which established an organization to help other victims find safety, medical care, and legal aid. Already she has helped over 1,400 women. This achievement has lead to her nomination of being one of the Top 10 CNN Heroes of 2012. During an interview between her and CNN reporter, the interviewer asked her, "What do you want people to know most about your work?" Her response was, "There is too much violence in Haiti... We are fighting for the women and children, who after the earthquake, became victims. We are fighting for justice." I find this women to be a true hero and I hope she and the rest of KOFAVIV continue in their efforts to fight for rape victims.
