Girl expelled for having gay parents by Katelyn McLane

In  Monterrey, Mexico, a two-year-old girl was expelled from her daycare because she had two dads. Her parents were legally married in Mexico City, and it's against the law for schools to discriminate against any person in the LGBT community. The school's website said that they wish to be "the best bicultural school in Mexico's educational system." The dads, Alex and Pepe, are rightfully angry, and decided that they needed to go public with this. They thought that was the only way that the government would really listen. Alex and Pepe filed two complaints: one to the Nuevo Leon state department of public education and another to the Mexican agency that protects consumers. The Mexican Constitution states that nobody is to be discriminated against based on any sexual orientation, gender, age, etc. The girl's parents are now trying to find a new school for her to go to, along with a way to explain why she can't see her friends anymore.

I think this is such a sad story. The poor girl never did anything wrong, and her fathers weren't, either. They are legally married, and are doing everything any other parents would do for their children. It's horrible that the school claimed to want to be "the best bicultural school" and then turned around and expelled a young girl with gay parents. I get so angry when I hear these kinds of stories. I mean, honestly, why is it so hard for people to accept others in the LGBT community? They're not any different than everyone else. This is why I'm glad to go to Booker T. where everyone is treated equally.

  2. This is terrible! If they didn't know her parents, she'd probably still be in school, which is awful. Instead, they're discriminating against the family, even though they did nothing wrong.

    1. I also think this is terrible! It's not her fault, she's just an innocent child!

  3. This is horrible! Its sad to see now some schools are kicking students out of the school just because the parents are gay. This is wrong and I hope that they find a better school for there daughter. Also I hope the little girl can see her friends again!
