Selling Virginity - Max Gaddis

A Colombian mother sold 12 out of her 14 daughters' virginity to older men to make money. When accused of and arrested for the crime along with one of the men who impregnated one of her daughters, she denied it. Margarita de Jesus Zapata Moreno, the mother of 14 daughters, would begin selling their virginity when they turned 12 years old. One of the daughters, now 16, had a baby when she was 14 because of this prostitution. She refused to have an abortion like Zapata told her to. She put the investigation at a standstill because she the only victim/witness willing to testify, disappeared for a year, afraid Zapata would harm her and her little boy, and when she came back, she released evidence about the man who fathered her child. Zapata is also being charged with forcing her older girls to do drugs and drink alcohol. Some of them have gone into professional prostitution, while others have gone missing. The only two children not forced into prostitution were the youngest, a boy of 11 years old and a girl of 9 years old.

I think this is sick and terrible. This needed to be stopped long ago and I'm surprised it wasn't. I wonder how the mother feels, knowing her children are either missing, prostitutes, or scarred for life by this whole ordeal. She should feel terrible for forcing her children to do this.

  1. I agree. I can't imagine any parent who would actually do this to their children. Times must be really hard for her to sacrifice so much, but that is no excuse - no one should ever do this.

  2. Thats discusting. Even she she did try to play the card that she was strapped for money or anything like that, it wasn't necessary to sell her daughters bodies. She probably had many options, but chose the simplest and easiest to her. -_______-

  3. I agree, this is terrible! I think that the girls should have said something to someone so that this would have been stopped many years ago. I hope this never happens again and if it does someone will say something.

  4. I agree this is so horrible! The things a "parent" would do for money no days. It's just sad.
