Veterans gather to end government shutdown by Katelyn McLane

On Tuesday, many groups of military veterans plan on gathering in front of the National World War II Memorial to push for an end to the government shutdown. Many unemployed veterans aren't getting the checks that they need in order to keep from going broke, and they're going to need the money soon. There are approximately three million veterans who will be in huge trouble if the government doesn't get going again in a few days. The House Veterans Affairs Committee stated that they cannot distribute the 3.8 million checks that they owe veterans until the government gives them authorization, appropriations, and a budget. There are many other veterans being affected by the government shutdown in different ways, and they all hope that the push on Tuesday will make a difference.

I am very worried for these poor veterans. They're being neglected by the very government that they fought for. It's just wrong that the government continues to be shut down when so many good people need it desperately. These war heroes are going to be broke very soon, and I also hope that what they have planned for Tuesday will cause the government to come to its senses and end the shutdown. I hope something good comes out of this soon!

  1. I feel horrible, during government shut downs, these hardworking innocent people are still having to work and not getting paid, which can make it very hard on their families, especially those with financial issues.

  3. It's sobering, the fact that conservatives still are responsible for this shutdown when they are really just harming their own people
