Venezuela shoots down two 'hostile' planes by Paige Kutschall

"This was the first plane shot mid-air in the country since the approval of the Law and Control Regulation for the Integral Defence of the National Airspace, following the orders of our commander-in-chief, President Nicolas Maduro," Gen Padrino said.

Recently, a bill allowing for Bolivian Military Forces to shoot down illegal planes entering the country's air space, was approved. This aircraft was thought to be carrying drugs and refused to follow the military pilots' orders.  The head of Venezuela's Strategic Operational Centre, General Vladimir Padrino Lopez, told the country's state television that a plane had been targeted after "all other means of persuasion had been exhausted" in the early hours of Saturday. Planes smuggling drugs are no stranger to the country.  11 other planes were dissembled on the groud and over 35 tons of drugs were found just in the past year.

I think that the country is handeling this drug smuggling in planes very well. I don't know of any other way to handle it because the country probably doesn't have much money. And it's not like they are shooting down a plane full of people, there are only 1 or 2. And these people are doing it at the risk of thier lived anyway. I wish drugs were never discovered, a lot of problems would be fixed.

  1. How do they know where the drugs ate coming from?

  3. I think this is a pretty reasonable approach, too. It's good that so far they haven't seemed to shoot down the wrong planes. I mean, it's unfortunate that the few people on the planes have to die, but if they really do use all other methods of persuasion before using their final line of defense, I think this is alright.
