Wii U sales up 200% after price drop and release of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD --Economy-Social Robert Swofford

Nintendo made a similar mistake with their Wii U with a hefty price, like-wise to their 3DS early into release. However they dropped the price to save their beloved console. Amazingly enough it increased the sales up 200% plus the Wind Waker bundle added to the sales.

Nintendo is very sly with these sort of marketing strategies. With the 2DS coming out later this year, for a cheaper substitute for the 3DS. Nintendo released the Pokemon X and Y on october 12, over 4 million copies have sold within 2 day of the release date, boosting sales high as ever for Nintendo. another smart motive by the marketing department, only $50 was removed by the initial price....It's amazing how much extra money could be made with a small cut in price.

the pathetically small article (plus a bonus for grin XD ) Wii U
