THE SHUTDOWN IS OVER!!! unfortunately there are some side effects. By Nash F.

Well we did it the shutdown is over, can everyone party now? NO! the sad news is there is a lot of things that need to recover and a lot of people are taking some hits to their record.

First a few poles. A gallup pole has stated that Obama's approval rating went down two percent in the past week. Ted Cruz in another pole is doing worst he has dropped in favorability by both Republicans  and Democrats (+25 -31)* but he has risen in favor with the Tea Party (+74 -8)*. These two poles show an interesting pattern that while Obama may have taken a small hit in his popularity Ted Cruz, the face of the government shutdown, has become really unpopular. Except the Tea Party, a minority of the minority, love him so what could this mean.

I see this going one of two ways either A. the Republican party gets its act together and they find a way to make the Tea Party inside it to be more rational and not act up in the Congress. Or B. the Tea Party will slowly destroy the integrity of the Republican party and they will slowly dissolve from this.

In the end I see A Republican Party that will have to change its views to be slightly more Liberal if they are going to succeed in a America where they know that a majority of americans are not willing to put up with their junk.

I'd like to end on a quote.

"Back in 1995, we tried this experiment before. The American people reacted in a totally negative fashion, so we didn't do it again until we lost all corporate memory, except for a few of us old geezers."
      -John McCain (Rep. Ariz.)

*(+: Favorable   -:Unfavorable)

  1. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. That's interesting that Ted Cruz would get ANY popularity, since he is "the face of the shutdown"? I mean, how can you become more popular in class if you caused everyone to have more homework? And then, why was it such a big deal to everyone that the government shutdown - It's happened much longer before.. (rad report:) )
