Australia halts cattle exports to Egypt over 'cruelty'- Ayla Huff

Australia halts cattle exports to Egypt over 'cruelty'

Australian cows being exported to Indonesia (June 2011)

After receiving a video showing the extreme cruelty that was used towards Australia's cattle in Egypt,  Australia has decided to suspend the export of their live cattle. The animal rights group described the video as 'horrific' and said the acts done to the animals were 'vicious'. The video has not yet been released to the public, but I would very much be interested in seeing it when it has been made public. There have not be any descriptions to what manner the animals had been treated or what acts the Egyptians have actually committed. Whats very interesting is the fact that in the year 2009 the Egyptian exports were also postponed due to animal cruelty. What i'm curious about is why they would dare make the same mistake for a second time. I found this a very interesting article and hope to see the video when it is released. Now I know not to trust my cattle or live stock with the Egyptians.

  1. If Egypt is in fact committing these cruel acts then I think Australia responded in the right way.

  2. I agree with Corsica. This was a good way to respond to these crimes.
