Australian Politician
Attacked by a Kangaroo

Rattenbury usually jogs around the same Canberra suburb neighborhood, but his
recent run was rather unusual. As he was
running past a hedge he bumped into a kangaroo. Rattenbury says the kangaroo
look panicked and pounced on him to escape. The kangaroo’s jump went into the
politician’s left leg that made cuts and gashes. The kangaroo was an Eastern Gray Kangaroo.
They usually show up in suburbs, and the neighborhood Shane was running in. It
is near a nature reserve. The kangaroos are especially common in suburbs
because they are in search of grass and water. After Mr. Rattenbury was jumped
on, he went to a walk-in clinic a to have the cuts looked at. Lately, he has
said there has been some humor around him about kangaroos because of this. Shane suffered only a minor injury, and he
said, “I hope to be back out there tomorrow.” Referring to his training for a
triathlon.
It is
important to know what type of animals live around you. Many animals that don’t
threaten humans, but they can still come into contact and have a negative
affect. Also, in a situation like this it is best to keep calm and not panic.

I'm glad he wasn't hurt and the kangaroo didn't have rabies. It's so unusual to think about the wild animals found in neighborhoods in other parts of the world! In the US we have cats and dogs, but in Australia there are kangaroos! Cool.
