Earthquake Off Antarctica's Coast by: Rachel Devine

Sunday, at 9:40 a.m., a strong earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.6, struck off Antarctica's coast. This earthquake promted a warning that it could possibilly trigger a tsunami. The quake was centered in waters south of South America's southern tip and 338 miles northeast of Palmer Station in Antarctica. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center released a statement announcing that there appeared to be no threat of a "destructive" tsunami because of the earthquake. Luckily, no one was badly injured.

I am glad that no one was greatly affected and that a tsunami did not end up occuring. This article just goes to show how many natural disasters have come about in our world recently.

  1. This is so scary but I'm glad that the tsunami never occurred as it could have harmed and killed many.

  2. It is crazy how an earthquake its self can be destructive as well as it's after math like a tsunami.

  3. This earthquake is just awful. I have been hearing about so many natural disasters lately, and I always wish we could prevent them somehow, but they always seem to just come out of nowhere. It is very good that the tsunami didn't happen because then it could greatly affect Antarctica. I hope that this doesn't happen again and that the number of natural disasters decrease.
