While many immigrants have escaped from the hostile, fatal ideals and strategies and grip of ISIS, many immigrants are still attempting to leave their homes in order to make a new life for themselves. A group of about 50 people have fled from their homes around Hawija, Iraq which is still under the thumb of ISIS. Their homes near Hawija, are approximately 37 miles from the safe haven of Daqouq, where food water and sanctuary is offered to these terrified immigrants.
Many have exclaimed their fear for this extremist group to the point that many are willing to walk almost infinitive distances with limited resources, and for some even no clue as to where they are going. Not only did some of these immigrants have to live under the rule of these extremists, but some even explained the horrors that they had to endure. A mother claimed that due to the skyrocket of prices on sanitary items, her family had to endure months without the use of shower soap. Another claimed that she kept her children indoors as much as possible to avoid conflict, while an immigrant said they were whipped ten times and fined eighty-five dollars for a package of cigarettes. Many do not realize that these people have to endure nightmares everyday and that they struggle to have simple necessities. It is so sad that these people are terrified of being beaten or jailed just for carrying a cell phone or having a package of cigarettes. We need to realize the horrors they have seen, and that for their sake something must be done about ISIS before the group gains any more power.
