62 killed in Westgate mall in Kenya during a 3 day hostage situation by: Samantha Stromness

Recently approximately 10 suspects (3 of which have been verified as Americans,) held up a high end  mall in Kenya killing at least 62 including a pregnant woman and injuring over a hundred more. They shot many children and mothers leaving many childless or orphaned and the trauma they inflicted emotionally and physically on the hostages was near unbearable. Not only is the crime in its self sickening, but also the media and general public's reaction to it. Kenya is a well developed country where such violent attacks are not necessarily "common"; if something like this had occurred in America it would have been all over the media and most likely immortalized as a tragic day to remember similar to that of 9/11. However, this attack has seemed to have barley scraped its way onto the morning news. I think such a horrendous crime like this should be regarded as a headline worthy tragedy regardless of the country it occurred in
