A Cure That Can Kill - The Pentavalent Vaccine, By: Jon Cope

A Cure That Can Kill - The Pentavalent Vaccine, By: Jon Cope

Summary:
Accordint to Wall Street Journal, In Philippines, Andia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam, people have been giving their children a "Five-in-one vaccine" (This vaccine is meant to prevent hepatitis B, diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus and Haemophilus Influenzae type b). The government of India is thinking about banning this vaccine because it has just recently caused twenty-one deaths for children in India. Around the globe, almost 8.2 million doses have been given to children. Apparently 1.66 million children die every year from diseases which can be preventable (pneumonia...). The reason this vaccine causes deaths is because Haemophilus Influenza type b can cause many painful bacterial illnesses.

Analysis:
I thought Vaccines are meant to HELP and CURE people and their illnesses, but apparently not with this pentavalent Vaccine. I find it really sad how these doctors can keep on giving such a vaccine even know one child has died from it. Yet, they keep on giving the vaccine all over the world, at some point it was suspended from use in many countries, but I don't see how they can keep on using it again. It's cruel, a complete waste of money, and a waste of a life.

  1. I agree, doctors should stop using it immediately. But you also have to look at the parents' point of view: vaccinations are a relatively new invention, and a literal lifesaver at times, so of course they want their children to have it. And a "5 in 1" one, if successful, would be amazing! Life is hard for some people in the world, and sometimes vaccines are rarities. This should make doctors and scientists work harder so more lives can be saved, because children need some vaccinations, but they need correct ones.

  2. They should stop giving the vaccine immediately, but i don;t think they they should completely give up on the idea. I think that they should work towards making a 5 in 1 vaccine, but one that isn't lethal.

  3. Is the Haemophilus Influenza type b vaccine deadly by its self or just in combination with the other vaccines, also why don't they just remove the Haemophilus Influenza type b vaccine form the 5 in 1 vaccine and make it a 4 in 1 vaccine.
