Innocent man killed by police. by Jackson Daughety

Saturday morning, North Carolina police officers killed a man. Jonathan Ferrell had gotten in a car wreck earlier that night and went to the nearest house to ask for help. The owner of the house opened the door, and was surprised to see a man she did not know. She then called the police and told her that a strange man was repeatedly knocking on her door and would not go away. Police arrived at the scene and saw a man matching the woman's description running at them. When he did not stop, one of the officers fired a stun gun at him. This apparently did not slow Johnathan down and another Officer saw it fit to shoot him. Johnathan died that night. I can't help but think there is some racism involved here. I mean the lady whose door he knocked on asked no questions or even gave him a chance to explain himself. I understand that it is dangerous to open the door to strangers, but she did that, and he didn't attack her or anything, so why did she slam the door on him and call the police? That seems a bit excessive to me. And then there is the fact that the police officers didn't give him a chance to explain himself either. That also makes no sense. The police shouldn't be afriad of the people they are supposted to be protecting. http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/15/justice/north-carolina-police-shooting/index.html?hpt=us_c2

  1. That is ridiculous that the police just decided to shoot him instead of calming him down and reasoning with him... Police need to be more careful these days...

  2. To me, the problem here is the policeman. He should have been more cool-headed than he was.
