Gun control Debate by Jackson Daughety

The gun laws in the United states have not been very helpful with all the killings going on in the last few years. But now law enforcement is putting a new spin on an old debate, making the focus more on mental health care than on the gun laws themselves. They want to implement a mental health bill to keep the dangerous people away from guns. This is not enough for most people, who believe in much stricter gun laws, but it seems to be the best they are going to get in the near future. the NRA agrees with this bill and it is definetly a step in the right direction. At least this is a step in the right direction. Clearly this will not completely stop the issue of murders, but maybe it will help a little bit. It worries me that gun laws are not more strict, but I guess people deserve their rights, and if they are willing to see people murdered ruthlessly almost daily just so they can go hunting, then I guess we have no right to stop them. http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/19/politics/guns-mental-health/index.html?hpt=us_c2

  1. i think this is a good direction for the laws to go and i think "I guess people deserve their rights, and if they are willing to see people murdered ruthlessly almost daily just so they can go hunting, then I guess we have no right to stop them" is way too harsh.
