Chinese/ American Surrogate Parents by Kera Mickus

"Wealthy Chinese are hiring American women to serve as surrogates for their children, creating a small but growing business in $120,000 (74,962.5 pounds) "designer" American babies for China's elite." Just about summarizes the article.
Surrogacy agencies in China and the United States are provide surrogate services to the most wealthy Chinese people who cannot concieve or want their children to be U.S citizens.

I believe this is a great idea, but that China has the One-Child Policy for a reason. They are over-crowded and are trying to reduce the over population, and when people try to skip around this, it can create major problems. But it's a great idea for Chinese people who need surrogate help, or want their children already registered as U.S citizens.

  1. I'm not sure what to think of this article. I think it's wrong for the Chinese government to suppress it's people that way, but I do agree that China is extremely populated. I also disagree with calling babies "designer", but I have sympathy for the families who so desperately want to move to the United States. The unfortunate thing is that only the wealthy Chinese, instead of the poor ones who are really suffering, get this chance.

  2. I agree with Frances; it's unfair that the wealthy Chinese people get this opportunity but poorer people don't. That's the way things work, however, and we have to deal with it. I hope this all works out for everyone, though, and that we keep in mind that we have to prevent the U.S. from becoming overpopulated, too.
