Dead Ducks pulled out of China River by Amaria Stern

Close to 1,000 dead ducks were pulled out of Sichuan River today by residents in Pengshan county. Although the river was not used for drinking water, the environmental department was alerted. 50 woven bags were brought out of the river incompassing dead ducks that had already been disinfected and buried. In addition to these ducks, the number of dead pigs being pulled out of another China river-one that supplies Shangai with drinking water- is rising. Residents using China's version of Twiiter, weibo, are speaking out about the safety of the water. They are unclear about where the corpses are coming from, but concern is growing.

I would definitely be a concerned resident if dead animals were being dragged out of rivers near me, especially ones that I drink from. This should be a priority for the environmental departments in China if they truly care about the safety and health of their citizens.

  1. This reminds me of the bubbling blood river in Chicago.

  2. This is very suspicious. I agree that this bizarre issue needs to be solved for safety, health, and environmental reasons.
