Deadly Tornado Strikes in Bengladesh: Amanda Kipp

Last Friday afternoon, a powerful tornado ripped through the southeastern district of Brahmanbaria in the country of Bengladesh. There have been 20 confirmed deaths so far and over 200 people were injured due to this storm. This terrible storm struck over 15 local villages. The administrative cheif of Brahmanbaria fears that the number of deaths will continue to grow because rescuers were not able to get to all the affected areas. Footage of the tornado shows tin and mud-built houses being flattened, fallen trees and debris scattered everywhere. Even part of the district jail was crushed and one prisoner was killed. This storm whirled through the area in only 15 minutes, quickly tearing up everything in its path. I feel terribly for the people of Brahmanbaria and I hope that they will find help and recontruct what was destroyed in the tornado. Another tragic event in the far East :(
