New pope walks fine line on economic issues-Russell Daniels

As a cardinal in Argentina, Pope Francis gave up his wealth to be a poor man, often cooking his own meals and taking public transportation. This new pope's sympathies lie with the poor and the destitue but anyone who hopes that the pope will bring a new age of liberal activism will be disappointed. However, as a cardinal he fought the tyranny of wealth inequality and he stood firm liberation theology that spread throughout the church in the 70's and 80's. To a lot of experts pope Francis is said to be ready to fight against economic inequalities around the world. This article was written by Jim Zarroli and was published today at 6:50pm.

  1. You make him sound all nice in the beginning, but you make it seem like he will fail his job at bringing/maintaining peace...
