New Zealand Drought - Hannah Kalan


The capital of New Zealand, Wellington, has an estimated 17 days of water left due to drought. The government estimated that this drought could cost the entire nation over $3 billion. Craig McBeth from Dairy NZ said, "We're really looking at what options are available for farmers to balance out the supply and demand equation for feed,". However this drought also has a benefit for the Australian dairy economy. A milk shortage has pushed up the global price by 10%, and whole powder by 18%, which is excellent news for the Australian export market.
