Teacher's murder sparks calls for school protection for Pakistan's girls By: Deyzya Hardeman

(CNN) -- The murder of a teacher has prompted a petition calling forPakistan's government to take a greater role in protecting girls and teachers attending school.

In Pakistan, a girls' school teacher named Shahnaz Nazli was gunned down by two motorcyclist on the way to work in her village. She was immediately taken to the hospital, but died from the many gun shot wounds.

One of the worst things about the situation is that her child was standing right next to her when it happened.

It has been believed that this is a major act of terrorism, in the 24 years of Nazil being a teacher she has never been harassed or threatened. Unfortunately it was completely unexpected to be shot and killed in her village. The police are telling the school to possibly add more protection and keep an eye out for the girls in the schoolhouse.

  1. If they can't protect the teachers, then they can't protect the students. That's crazy!

  2. I would surely sign this petition if I lived in Pakistan. It is awful how she had to die because she was bettering the life of her students by doing her everyday job. I feel so bad for her poor child because it just awful and such a bad memory of how her mom was killed replaying over and over again in her mind. The school needs to take numerous steps into protecting the school because if they don't, tragedies like this will happen again.

  3. Was this teacher singled out because she was trying to educate girls? That is so closed minded and crazy. Everyone should have the opportunity to get an education. What a horrible event to witness for that teacher's own child!
