While on vacation traveling in India, a British dental hygienist jumped two stories from her hotel room to avoid what she thought would have been sexual harassment. She received a knock on her door at 3:45 a.m. The hotel manager was at her door offering to take a shower with her and give her a massage. When he wouldn't go away, she barricaded herself in the room and chose to jump from her residence. Recently, there have been multiple sexual harassment stories from India. The woman suffered from injuries in both her legs but will make a full recovery. This story, if true, is awful. No woman should have to fear that she will be sexually harassed. I hope that this problem will be controlled.

That is gross. No woman should ever need to go to such extremes in the first place.
ReplyDeleteRecently there has been media coverage on a lot of sexual abuse cases around the world, and I hope governments around the world will start enforcing stricter rape/abuse laws. I'm guessing this lady feared for safety, even behind locked doors, so escaping her hotel room was the only option. I hope she recovers well and the manager gets punished.

ReplyDeleteAll of the sexual harrassment cases are getting out of hand. Obviously the government and police force need to step up rape/abuse laws like Margaret said and try to find ways to avoid this.
