President Barack Obama on Monday will announce his nomination of Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez, head of the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, to serve as the next secretary of labor, a White House official confirmed to Yahoo News.
A longtime public servant, Perez joined the Justice Department in 2009 following his position as secretary of Maryland's Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) department, which works to protect consumers and employees.
