India bars Italian envoy from leaving over marines row By: Halle Van De Hey

In this article Harmeet Shah Singh of CNN talks about two marines being held in India because they were suspects in a murder case. The two marines were eventually sent home to participate in their countries elections, only because their ambassador ensured they would be back in four weeks for their hearing. After failing to return the marines to India the Italian ambassador was held, not being able to leave until the marines were returned.

I think this is an interesting case. If the marines aren’t guilty then there is no reason to keep them from the Indian government, but by doing so it makes the situation worse. This begs us to ask the question, did they really do it? If they didn’t, then why hide.
