Australians Receiving Death Threats Through Texts by Graysha Assoun

On Monday. Police sent out alerts declaring the text messages many Australian citizens were receiving were fake. Most text/email messages were saying that they only had two days to pay $5,000 or die. Detective Superintendent Brian Hay with the Queensland Police Service said to ignore these messages and to not panic because thats what they want. The police's advice is to stay calm. Authorities have never seen such a widespread threat and, even though they are not panicked, they are astonished by the extent that the scam has gone. Brian Hay, being calm and composed said: "They rely upon your fear to not think logically, but to respond in the manner in which they want you to. I would suspect that people have already fallen victim to this fraud." This scam has been going on and off for two previous years. Most authorities believe that this is not spontaneous, but an organized crime.
Everyone's advice is to ignore and to not fall victim to this stealthy crime. Just ignore it and try to not be scammed in the first place. With every great innovation comes its antithesis.
