Australia has given Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg honorary citizenship. During WWII, Wallenberg helped save tens of thousands of Jews from the Holocaust by providing passports and shelter in Nazi-occupied Hungary. Many of the people he saved went on to live in Australia. Mr. Wallenberg was detained by Soviet troops in 1945 and has not been seen since. He's already been made an honorary citizen in the US, Israel, Hungary, and Canada. Mr. Wallenberg is thought to have disappeared in Soviet custody after the war. A Russian inquiry says that he was executed in 1947 after the German retreat. The circumstances of his death still remain unclear.
