An operation to separate conjoined twins was led by Dr. James Goodrich at Children's Hospital in the Bronx. The twins surgery, known as craniopugus surgery, was 27 hours long and successful. The surgery is very rare and it has only been done 59 times since 1952. One of the twins suffered partial paralysis on his left side, but he has regained full functionality. The other twin has suffered from seizures, but is on medication to control the seizures. Jadon and Anias McDonald are doing great.
I believe a surgery like this one is revolutionary. It shows that our medical technology is advancing, and the future of medicine is bright. Stories like this one make me wonder how the twins became conjoined. I look forward to the development of medicine and surgeries.

ReplyDeleteThese advances are amazing and I hope that everything goes up from here, because things like cancer need to be solved too.
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible! I think this is an amazing step for our medical treatments and procedures. Now we only go up from here.
ReplyDeleteThis is very cool and exciting because technology and medicines are advancing more and more
ReplyDeleteThat's so weird and cool all at the same time, I agree it will be very interesting to see how the technology in the medical field advances especially dealing with separating conjoined twins.
ReplyDeleteOur medicine practices have come so far in the past 100, even 50 years. If we keep advancing at this rate who knows what we'll accomplish.
