This monday, a series of very powerful earthquakes hit the South Island of New Zealand triggering a tsunami and sending several aftershocks across the country. Two people have been reported dead and the damage will cost the country billions. The first event of the quake had a 7.8 magnitude and struck just after midnight in the community of Kaikoura and triggered waves that were 8 feet higher than the regular tide levels. But this was not the end, later that day an aftershock of 6.2 magnitude hit southwest of Kaikoura and it was numbered that 42 events followed the initial quake causing distress and destruction all over the country.
I wish New Zealand much luck and will keep them in my prayers in the process of rebuilding. The whole world needs a better way to plan for and better survive through natural disasters like this one in order to cause everyone less emotional distress and to save money on fixing everything that has been lost and broken.

That is so sad and I will definitely be praying about those who were affected by this. But I do agree, somehow we need to find ways to help protect people better.
